Hamburger and Potato Casserole:
Ingredients:
1 pound ground beef
1 medium onion, chopped
3–4 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
Salt and pepper, to taste
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 can (10.5 oz) condensed cream of mushroom soup (or cream of chicken)
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup sour cream
Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
2. Brown the beef: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and chopped onion until the beef is no longer pink. Drain any excess grease. Season with salt and pepper.
3. Prepare potatoes: Wash, peel (if desired), and slice the potatoes thinly (about 1/8-inch thick).
4. Mix sauce: In a bowl, whisk together the condensed soup, milk, and sour cream until smooth.
5. Assemble the casserole:
Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the bottom of the baking dish.
Spread half of the cooked ground beef mixture over the potatoes.
Pour half of the soup mixture over the beef.
Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, beef, and soup mixture.
6. Bake: Cover the dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
7. Add cheese: Remove the foil, sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top, and bake uncovered for 15 more minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
8. Serve: Let the casserole rest for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy!
