π« Chocolate Depression Cake (a.k.a. Wacky Cake)
π§ Ingredients:
1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 cup granulated sugar
1 tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp white vinegar
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1 cup water

π©π³ Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
Grease an 8x8-inch baking pan or line with parchment paper.
2. Mix dry ingredients in the pan or a mixing bowl:
Flour
Cocoa powder
Sugar
Baking soda
Salt
3. Make 3 wells in the dry mixture:
Pour vanilla in one well,
Vinegar in the second,
Oil in the third.
4. Pour water over everything and mix well until smooth. No electric mixer needed—just stir with a spoon or spatula.
5. Bake for 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
6. Cool in the pan before slicing. Top with powdered sugar, frosting, or enjoy as-is!

1 cup powdered sugar
2 tbsp cocoa powder
2 tbsp plant-based milk or water
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Mix until smooth and pour over cooled cake.
