๐ฐ Magic Custard Cake Recipe
๐งพ Ingredients:
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted and cooled slightly
2 cups whole milk, lukewarm
4 large eggs, separated
1 1/4 cups powdered sugar
1 tbsp water
1 tsp vanilla extract
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
Pinch of salt
Optional: powdered sugar, for dusting
๐ฉ๐ณ Instructions
1. Prep Oven and Pan
Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C).
Grease or line an 8×8-inch square baking dish with parchment paper.
2. Separate the Eggs
Place egg whites in one bowl and yolks in another.
3. Beat Yolks
Beat egg yolks with powdered sugar until pale and creamy (about 2 minutes).
Mix in melted butter, water, and vanilla extract.
Add flour and salt; mix until fully incorporated.
4. Add Milk
Slowly whisk in the lukewarm milk until smooth. (The batter will be very runny — that's okay!)
5. Whip Egg Whites
In a clean bowl, beat egg whites until stiff peaks form.
Gently fold egg whites into the batter in 3 batches. It’s fine if some small clumps remain — don’t overmix!
6. Bake
Pour batter into prepared pan and smooth the top.
Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until the top is golden and barely jiggles in the center.
7. Cool and Chill
Let cool completely at room temperature.
Refrigerate for at least 4 hours (or overnight) to help the layers set.
8. Serve
Dust with powdered sugar before slicing. Enjoy the layers:
✨ Fudgy bottom,
✨ Custard center,
✨ Fluffy cake top.
