Creamy Sausage and Pierogi Skillet
Ingredients:
1 (16 oz) package frozen pierogies (potato & cheese or your favorite)
1 lb smoked sausage, sliced (kielbasa works great)
1 tablespoon butter
1 small onion, sliced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 cup chicken broth
1/2 cup heavy cream (or half-and-half)
1/2 teaspoon paprika (optional)
Salt and pepper to taste
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Chopped fresh parsley or green onions, for garnish
---
Instructions:
1. Cook the pierogies:
In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add frozen pierogies and cook for 6–8 minutes, flipping occasionally, until golden brown on both sides. Remove and set aside.
2. Sauté sausage & onions:
In the same skillet, add sliced sausage and cook until browned. Add onions and cook until softened (about 5 minutes). Add garlic and cook another 30 seconds.
3. Make it creamy:
Pour in chicken broth and heavy cream. Stir in paprika if using. Bring to a simmer and cook for 2–3 minutes, letting it slightly thicken.
4. Combine:
Return pierogies to the skillet. Stir gently to coat in the sauce. Sprinkle cheese over top and cover the skillet until cheese is melted (2–3 minutes).
5. Garnish & serve:
Sprinkle with parsley or green onions and serve hot.
