Homemade Chicago-Style Deep Dish Pizza recipe that will give you a buttery, flaky crust, rich tomato sauce, and loads of gooey cheese!
Ingredients
For the Dough:
3 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
½ cup cornmeal
1 ½ teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon sugar
2 ¼ teaspoons (1 packet) instant yeast
1 ¼ cups warm water (110°F)
¼ cup unsalted butter, melted

For the Sauce:
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 small onion, finely chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon dried oregano
½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
1 (28 oz) can crushed tomatoes
1 teaspoon sugar
Salt and pepper to taste
For the Toppings:
3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
½ pound Italian sausage, cooked and crumbled (optional)
½ cup sliced pepperoni or other toppings of choice
½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions
1. Make the Dough:
1. In a large bowl, mix flour, cornmeal, salt, sugar, and yeast.
2. Add warm water and melted butter, then mix until a dough forms.
3. Knead for 5–7 minutes until smooth and slightly sticky.
4. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1–2 hours until doubled.
2. Make the Sauce:
1. In a saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat.
2. Add onion and cook until softened (about 5 minutes).
3. Stir in garlic, oregano, and red pepper flakes.
4. Pour in crushed tomatoes, add sugar, salt, and pepper.
5. Simmer for 20–30 minutes until thickened.
3. Assemble the Pizza:
1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease a 10- or 12-inch deep-dish pizza pan or cast-iron skillet with olive oil.
2. Roll out dough into a large circle and press into the pan, pushing up the sides.
3. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese evenly over the dough.
4. Add cooked sausage or other toppings.
5. Pour sauce over the toppings and spread evenly.
6. Sprinkle Parmesan cheese on top.

1. Bake for 25–30 minutes until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
