Ham and Cheese Puff Pastry Pockets:
Ingredients
1 sheet puff pastry (about 250 g), thawed
150 g (5 oz) ham, thinly sliced or diced
150 g (5 oz) cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or Gruyère), grated
1 large egg, beaten (for egg wash)
1 tbsp Dijon mustard or mayonnaise (optional)
Black pepper, to taste
Instructions
1. Preheat Oven & Prep Pastry
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface. If it's too thick, roll it slightly thinner.
2. Cut & Fill
Cut the pastry into 4 equal rectangles (or squares for a different shape).
If using mustard or mayonnaise, spread a thin layer onto each piece.
Place a portion of ham and cheese in the center of each rectangle.
Sprinkle with a little black pepper for extra flavor.
3. Seal & Brush
Fold the pastry over the filling to form a triangle or rectangle.
Press the edges with a fork to seal them tightly.
Brush the tops with beaten egg to give them a golden, crispy finish.
4. Bake
Place the pastries on the prepared baking sheet.
Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown and puffy.
5. Cool & Serve
Let them cool for a few minutes before serving.
Enjoy warm with your favorite dipping sauce (honey mustard, ranch, or marinara).
